What is it?

A model is a three-dimension representation or mockup of any project, form, object, or structure.
In most common cases, this representation is made on a smaller size than the original.

Typical models made at smaller size than original form are:
• Buildings and constructions;
• Real Estate developments;
• Boats;
• City planning;
• Geographic models, such maps with elevations;
• Trains;
• Industrial units and oil platforms.
In these cases scales such as 1:50 to 1:1000+ are used of the 3D representation.

However it is usual to have models of the same size of the original subject. These models are developed due to safety issues, heavy weight of original units (cheaper to handle and transport), cost effectiveness (cheaper to manufacture than original).

These are usually known as replicas and include:
• Drives and Engines;
• Fluid Pumps;
• Mechanical parts;
• Human dummies or animals;
• Sports cars.
In the cases above the used scale is 1:1

Models of small objects or very small forms are also widely used all over the world, most cases related with museums expositions and technical presentations:
• Chemical molecules;
• Micro organisms;
• Small mechanisms like mechanic watches;
• Components like turbo or fuel injectors.
In these cases scales such as 2:1 to 1000+:1 are used of the 3D representation.
